What is the best way to expose an equine rescue scam?

This is a brief of what has been found out… these ‘rescue’ sites have been found out… they post pictures of starved horses and say theyre about to go for meat (when theyre not fat enough as the ‘rescue’ sit has taken them away from the fat farm and starved them!)

People pay upto EUROS 2,000!! to ‘rescue these horses’ … which just fuells these ‘rescue’ sites to get more ‘meat’ horses from the fat farms and sell at a mega profit to gullable inexperienced british people!! (who end up with poor horses with huge issues and many carry deseases and end up with big vets bills!)…

This is a bigger ‘summary!’

People joined ‘Rescue’ forums, asked questions, was banned.

Tried to find out whether these charities were genuine – many do not have registered charity status.

After further investigation, it was alleged that the Rescue Organisations could be run as money making scams.

Gullible people are emotionally blackmailed into buying French meat horses, to save them from death, but are charged more than the meat prices.

Having bought the meat horses, they are not allowed by the Rescue Organisation/s to bring them to the UK until a full load has been organised for the transporters.

Allegedly, there are insufficient checks done on the horse’s age, identity, soundness, disease status, and fitness to travel to the UK.

The gullible new owners are asked to pay more than the travel costs, to cover the cost of the dealers’ horses, which are brought back in the same lorry load.

Between the time the gullible new owners buy them, and the transporters ship them to the UK, the horses are in purgatory – the French farmers won’t feed them (why would they?), the new owners aren’t paying livery, the rescue organisations are not interested.

When French meat horses return to the UK, they are sold on for a profit from the ‘rescuers’ who may/may not be trade dealers.

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? Horses are suffering and people who try to help are being taken advantage of and people are making a huge profit out of it (whilst posing as rescue organisations!)

It would seem to me that if someone had the kind of money to rescue to buy these horses and pay for their transport, they would also have the brains to avoid the scam in the first place.
