I want to buy this horses from equine rescue?

I have the chance to buy a horse from Hytyme Equine Rescue. I know they are a good facility and they take excellent care of their horses. I have never purchased a horse from rescue before and I wanted to know if any one has and how did the horse work out for you? I am not sure of this horses history but he seems to be sound from what I have been told. I plan to go look at him with my Mother to see how he acts. I am a rather good rider as well as my Mother, but my sister has never had a riding horse. Do you think this is a wise chose to get this horse from the rescue? He is an Apaloosa.
They do have a vet that comes out if you want them to. We do own one horse at this time, but he is a miniature horse. We have owned horses in the past but my sister was to young to remember. I also spent three years working for a woman that had two arab show jumping horses. I do really want this horse but I want to ride him first.

Treating the separation anxiety in dogs

A prominent and very common problem found in your dog is of separation anxiety. If your dog constantly barks, tries to destroy or pull down the furniture when you are not around him, well these are the common symptoms of separation anxiety in dogs. You really need to take a good care of him before things get worse.

Following 3 measures will help your dog recover from this problem pretty easily.

1) Leadership Packing

Have you ever noticed that your dog thinks he is the leader and acts like one? Well if he does then its quite stressful for his health as in he is not only concerned about his own welfare but he also looks after your needs and cares a lot about you. You need to strictly treat them as a pet, you can’t be lenient with them at all. If you wish to make him sit you should be strong enough to do so and make him remember what is to be done when you order the same commands

2) Modification in Behaviour

Exercises that help to make modification in your dog’s behaviour should be incorporated. This will make your dog become calmer rather than being more anxious.  Always try to keep your dog clam before you are about to leave the house keeping him alone. This is one of the common answers on how to stop separation anxiety in dogs.

3) Natural Remedies or Vet Prescribed Medicines

If the above two measures doesn’t work then don’t worry, there are medications available for dogs with intense problem of separation anxiety. Off course it won’t give you immediate effect but gradually it will reduce this problem.

Although this thing sounds simple and straight, a pet dog owner should not completely rely on it.

Volunteering at an equine rescue?

I’m thinking about volunteering at an equine rescue in the town I live in. However, volunteers that are under the age of 18 must have an "interview" and only the volunteers the barn owner thinks are responsible, trustworthy and experienced can become volunteers. Would you let me me a volunteer if you owned the barn?

> I’ve been working with and taking care of horses for about 10 years
> I’ve been riding for about 8 years
> I know how to do all the barn work such as cleaning stalls and scrubbing water buckets
> I know how to do a lot of ground work such as lunging (free lunging as well as on the line) and long lining
> I’ve been helping my instructor get ready for lessons for a few years now so I know how to groom, tack up and warm a horse up before a lesson

There might be a few other things so I’ll add them if I can think of them
This rescue though does have some riders. A few horses there right now were abused and there are some volunteers there now that know a lot about training so they were able to work with the horses and they are starting to get ridden now.

Walking down the memory lane of your fury companion

It is very difficult for pet lovers to deal with the loss of their pets especially when the pet has been with them for years and has become a part of their family. A lot of people get offended when someone behaves with their pets in a disrespectful manner. So when you face the loss of these beloved pets it becomes very difficult to deal with it. So you should find a way to remember them and do things that that would help   you get over the pain and the grief.

A lot of people go for glass keepsakes which remind them of their pets. They are designed in a fashion that a part of your pet’s cremains are visible or maybe stored among other special items. The remains are permanently encased in the object. It is a wonderful way to show respect and love.

Another way is to use the photos of your pets and get it framed or decorate it creatively and keep it in the house. You can go for sketches, portraits, acrylics, charcoal paintings, oil paintings that along with being a great artwork are a good remembrance method. You can also have a photo of you along with your pet on your wall. There are new artworks available which just make it even more special.

A lot people also get photo blankets made. Some get fashionable jewelry such as beads, pendants and a modest part of their pet encased in jewelry so that they can have a feeling of keeping their pets close to their heart. A lot of such jewelry is custom made as well according to the customer’s wish. Then there are keepboxes, scrapbooks and plaques. A photo album which has those beautiful moments that you have spent with your friend. Keepsake boxes can have anything that you pet loved or your pet used like a leash, his favorite toy, etc.

Quite a few number of people nowadays go for pet urns which has become a hot favorite pattern of pet memorials. There are customized as well as hand painted designs which can be requested for. These urns are made out of glass, ceramic, wood or biodegradable material.

Anything that you choose should be the best way that would remind you of your pet; it should remind you of the time spent with your pet. It would help you get over the grief and cherish the moments and keep your pet close to your heart forever.

Dealing with the death of your beloved Pets

Have you ever dealt with the death of your beloved companion pet? Did you ever felt completely devastating after the incident?  How did you cope up with the situation? The reason I am asking these questions is because recently on last Sunday I found my horse “Starky” dead. Although he had grown old enough but he was pretty much healthy enough to survive. I could actually feel the emptiness of his loss after spending almost 8 years of love and affection with him.

It was then when my mom asked me to get out of this depression and figure out ways to honor my pet and cherish the sweet memories we all had with him. In order to respect the memory of my horse I got a pet memorial from an online pet urns and pet memorials site on which I have engraved the picture of my horse and I have placed it outside my house near the garden area. That was the place where he used to spend his most of the time.

I really miss him a lot and wish that his soul Rests in Peace!
