Admin Question by Figure Skater: Anyone have name ideas for a pet care service?
I want to start a pet care service, and the only thing holding me back is the lack of a catchy name.
Any ideas?
Here is a little info about me that might help:
-My name is Amy
-I love animals
you do not HAVE to include something to do with these things in the name, just if you want.

Admin Question by Misaki: How does pet insurance and vet care go hand in hand?
What does pet insurance do in relation to the vet?
Does it make going to the vet cheaper or what?
Is pet insurance a monthly payment?
How much is a trip to the vet?
Do you have pet insurance? How much do you pay?
I will be adopting two kittens soon.

Pet Insurance does not work like Human insurance. Basically you pay your vet bill in full submit the insurance claim with medical records, Invoices Etc, Then they determine how much money you get back. With pet insurance some plans only go until your pet around 6 yrs old and a lot don’t cover pre existing conditions ( Heart murmurs, Dental disease. Etc) I am pretty sure you have to pay monthly it all depends on what you chose. VPI, ASPCA, just have to look to see whats best for you

Admin Question by Lenadog: Pet Care.Pet Insurance – Has anyone used this insurance for their pet?
I’m trying to decide on the best pet insurance and this insurance, Pet Care, seems to have a good plan. Not too sure on reputation.

After my puppy was in the emergency room for 2 days and a $ 2,000 vet bill I started to look into them. The prices I was looking at seemed a bit high. I decided to just go with the maintinance plan my vet offered and hope for the best.

Admin I am renting a huge piece of property above Atlanta and want to find a way to purchase it and start a horse rescue and trail riding on it. I need downpayment, grant, other ideas. I have already ran into quite a number of people who need somewhere to take their horses to who can’t afford them anymore, or can’t care for them for various reasons. The need is great. Anyone want to invest? Tons of pasture for boarding and/or a petting zoo, a beautiful mountain property. We have four rescue horses here at this point and we want to do so much more. Credit is an issue, collateral is, too.

Admin This is a brief of what has been found out… these ‘rescue’ sites have been found out… they post pictures of starved horses and say theyre about to go for meat (when theyre not fat enough as the ‘rescue’ sit has taken them away from the fat farm and starved them!)
People pay upto EUROS 2,000!! to ‘rescue these horses’ … which just fuells these ‘rescue’ sites to get more ‘meat’ horses from the fat farms and sell at a mega profit to gullable inexperienced british people!! (who end up with poor horses with huge issues and many carry deseases and end up with big vets bills!)…
This is a bigger ‘summary!’
People joined ‘Rescue’ forums, asked questions, was banned.
Tried to find out whether these charities were genuine – many do not have registered charity status.
After further investigation, it was alleged that the Rescue Organisations could be run as money making scams.
Gullible people are emotionally blackmailed into buying French meat horses, to save them from death, but are charged more than the meat prices.
Having bought the meat horses, they are not allowed by the Rescue Organisation/s to bring them to the UK until a full load has been organised for the transporters.
Allegedly, there are insufficient checks done on the horse’s age, identity, soundness, disease status, and fitness to travel to the UK.
The gullible new owners are asked to pay more than the travel costs, to cover the cost of the dealers’ horses, which are brought back in the same lorry load.
Between the time the gullible new owners buy them, and the transporters ship them to the UK, the horses are in purgatory – the French farmers won’t feed them (why would they?), the new owners aren’t paying livery, the rescue organisations are not interested.
When French meat horses return to the UK, they are sold on for a profit from the ‘rescuers’ who may/may not be trade dealers.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? Horses are suffering and people who try to help are being taken advantage of and people are making a huge profit out of it (whilst posing as rescue organisations!)
Hi,
Yes it has been exposed on the Horse and Hound Forums… http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/

Admin I am reposting this question because I haven’t found anything I’m COMPLETELY satisfied with yet, so here goes….
I’m founding a non-profit rescue that will most likely be based in Northern California. I wanted to use Horse Feathers Equine Rescue, but that EXACT name exsists in Oklahoma. I’d like it to be clever instead of warm and fuzzy, as that seems to match the personalities of all involved. I’m totally stumped and I would love any input my fellow animal lovers could provide. Thanks!
